![]() It gave me a whole new perspective on the settings and historical background of the book. ![]() My drive from Germany to Turkey during the writing of THERE WILL BE WOLVES, following as closely as possible the route the crusaders took, was the highlight of my research. SHADOWS ON A SWORD (HarperCollins Canada Ltd., 1996) continues the history with the account of the First Crusade, and the soon to be published LIONHEART'S SCRIBE (HarperCollins Canada Ltd., 1999) completes the trilogy with the story of Richard Lionheart and the Third Crusade. What began as one book eventually became three. I had read about the crusades in history classes when I was young, but as I began to do my research, I discovered another whole side to the story. ![]() One of my favorite cities to explore was Cologne, the city where it all started on Easter weekend in 1096. I first heard the story of the People's Crusade when I lived in Germany. ![]()
